birthday retreat

 {view from the hilltop restaurant at los carneros inn}

a few weeks ago my friends & family started bouncing around some ideas for a little weekend getaway in celebration of yours truly reaching the big 2-7… after discussing the usual suspects {las vegas, sf, nyc} we agreed on a relaxing long weekend in wine country. while most resorts were completely booked, we were able to get a reservation at the stunning los carneros inn.  not only was the trip super relaxing, but the food {and wine of course} were out of this world and the scenery was spectacular… i see another trip up north in our very near future.

mini vacay {the london west hollywood}

last night my boyfriend & i packed an overnight bag and headed down to la for a mini-midweek-vacay.  the occasion? my bff ross was in town for the x-factor premier, and i can never pass up on some quality time with my long distance bestie.  after asking around about where we should stay, my good friend greg suggested we stay at the london in west hollywood… not just because his brother is the private events coordinator at the posh hotel, but because it is truly, as he says, “epic.”  it was a short visit filled with poolside lunch, lots of laughs, even more bubbly, & an impromptu dance party in the room… and the rooftop pool was the perfect place to watch the sunset & take in the sprawling view of the city.  i’m thinking we should make these midweek trips part of our regular routine…

the next best thing to actually going on a european vacation? the amazing souvenirs your loved ones bring you from their european vacations. yesterday my mother {finally} returned home after several days away in beautiful belgium & france.  luckily, she brought a few fun things for yours truly… allowing me to experience my own little slice of europe.

{macaroons from the famous ladurée}

{fresh smelling soaps made exclusively for the four seasons george v}

maui wrap up

{view from the four seasons resort maui at wailea}

after 9 amazing days on the island of maui, sadly, it was time to head back to the mainland… this trip was an active & exciting departure from our lazier past trips. this time, we traded in days filled with delicious mai tais & lava flows for kayaking, hiking & morning jogs… not to say that we didn’t indulge, as we did delight in the occasional poolside cabana afternoon… and of course, some refreshing libations.  here are a few shots from our days on maui:

{talkative friends}

{mini palm trees lining the serenity pool}

{crisp bubbles & good reads}

{my new favorite: not only does it smell amazing, but i’m pretty sure it works!}

{morning smoothie shots}

{and a little island luck}
