ready boots?

it seems as though recently, more often then not, i am finding style inspiration in my mother’s closet… for some time i went years without wanting to copy her wardrobe’s sensibility {there was a day when she actually purchased crocs}, but in the past few years she’s really given me a run for my money in the clothing department- her gold bangles, chanel bags, ballet flats, leather jackets & chunky watches make me drool daily… and her recent delivery from anouk ranks as one of my favorite fashion-inspirations.  yesterday she received 2 pairs of buttery leather boots, just in time for the chilly fall weather.  i couldn’t resist following suit, snatching up my very own pair of the perfect black boot, the jenny.  here are a few of my other picks from the uber stylish line…

for the boys

last night i curled up in bed with sookie, henry & the latest episode of dexter with the intention of composing a collage of my latest fashion obsessions {leather, jewel tones, givenchy bags etc.} however, i found myself constantly drifting towards the latest trends in menswear… and while this is a departure from my typical posts, i found it only appropriate to dedicate today’s to some of my favorite pieces for the boys this season… why should us girls have all the fun?

d.i.y {twinkle toes}

yesterday was a chilly fall day here in santa barbara. and while most locals dread days like those, i reveled in the chance to cozy up in my favorite sweater/sweatpant combo, light a fire, and embark on some d.i.y projects.  the first one- adding some sparkle to a boring old pair of black ballet flats.  i chose this pair in part due to its low price point {only $10 at h&m} and in part due to the fact that henry dog took it upon himself to nibble a bit at this pair’s toes. thus, not only did this project liven up my ordinary flats, but it also served as cover up for some unsightly chew marks…

{martha stewart glitter in assorted colors}

{apply glue to toe of shoes, or wherever you desire a little sparkle, then sprinkle glitter of choice over the glue}

{the finished project worthy of dorothy… i chose black to keep this pair an easy every day staple}

cute & cozy dresses

although it still is unseasonably warm in sunny santa barbara, i still yearn for the day i can rock my cozy winter pieces.  what i’m looking forward to the most? a pretty knit dress that can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. here are a few of my favorite sweater inspired dresses, perfectly suited for anyone’s budget…  isabel marant/etro/stella mccartney/isabel marant via net-a-porter
