new york little black book

anyone that has spoken to me in the last 48 hours knows that i had the most amazing trip back east last week. not only did we get to celebrate the little sister’s birthday in style, but i also got to visit so many people & places that i haven’t seen for years while living here in california- making me not only super excited, but also confident, in the sometimes daunting move back home. while this past trip was only a few short days, we tried to pack in as many of our favorite things while leaving time to experience some new favorites as well.  here is a list of our new york trip, in a nut shell:

mini vacay {the london west hollywood}

last night my boyfriend & i packed an overnight bag and headed down to la for a mini-midweek-vacay.  the occasion? my bff ross was in town for the x-factor premier, and i can never pass up on some quality time with my long distance bestie.  after asking around about where we should stay, my good friend greg suggested we stay at the london in west hollywood… not just because his brother is the private events coordinator at the posh hotel, but because it is truly, as he says, “epic.”  it was a short visit filled with poolside lunch, lots of laughs, even more bubbly, & an impromptu dance party in the room… and the rooftop pool was the perfect place to watch the sunset & take in the sprawling view of the city.  i’m thinking we should make these midweek trips part of our regular routine…

{vintage looking, trunk inspired, dresser}

{welcome bubbly from gordon ramsey’s hotel restaurant}

{complimentary cookies that were surprisingly amazing}

{and then more bubbly}

{bathroom makeup application/dance party}

{essential party pieces made the trip}

{so sad to leave, but will be back soon!}~{image via the london hotel}

it seems as though i have finally, after living here off and on for several years, have created a weekend tradition: brunch at arnoldi’s cafe.  perhaps better known for their delicious dinner {think gnocchi with 3 different sauces, crispy calamari, and fresh pasta al pomodoro} enjoyed beside a heated patio & bocci courts, arnoldi’s has always been a local favorite.  judging by the lack of crowds on weekend mornings, i’m guessing we may be some of the few to discover the hidden gem that is arnoldi’s brunch… that being said, it is a must!  the ingredients are fresh, the coffee is the best in town, and for those of you that like to get started early on the weekends… the bar is stocked & the drinks are stiff…

{best cup of joe in town}

{christiano’s omelette caprese: light/fresh/cheesy/delicious}

{fried polenta: my personal favorite}

{something sweet: french toast with mascarpone cream & syrup… yum!}

a slice of paris

while i, sadly, had to postpone my trip to paris this summer, my mother & sister arrived safely to the magical city this morning.  “amazing” “gorgeous” “life-altering” are some of the adjectives i have heard thus far.  and while i have to wait to experience the city of lights for myself, i decided to insert a little bit of paris into my morning by picking up some scrumptious treats at santa barbara’s own renaud’s patisserie & bistro.

{buttery croissant & delicious brioche}

{pistachio, raspberry, salted caramel & peanut butter… pure decadence}

{… i also found these matchbooks from my favorite french restaurants in nyc}
