back to school.

2013-08-22_16-41-07the end of august means back to school. and with my role in the classroom shifting, my back to school shopping list consists more of pencil skirts and loafers than denim and converse. here are a few pieces on my wish list…

2. textured sweater

3. buttons & stripes

4. classic black

5. pink pencil

6. cabernet crop

7. quilted & cap toed

8.  pop of color

9. leopard loafer

growing up i developed a physical aversion to sand. actually, i think i was born with it. my mother would carry me from the hot pavement of the parking lot to the safety of our beach towels, already laid out. naturally, i never imagined a wedding remotely close to the water or related to anything nautical. instead, i imagined a rustic barn lit up by tea lights, decorated with horseshoes rather than seashells.

as luck would have it, i’m marrying a man who loves the sand. and boats. and anything nautical for that matter. and furthermore, i live much closer to the ocean than i do a farm.  luckily, i fell in love with the seaside venue as quickly as i did with him, making the transition from rustic to nautical nuptials much smoother.

here are a few of my wedding inspirations… and, turns out, anchors and knots really aren’t so bad…

{a few stray chips that managed to weasel their way home with us}

the better half of this week was spent catching up from my exciting, although slightly exhausting, trip out west- fighting an impending cold, getting back into my gym routine {soul cycle is my new obsession}, and gearing up for my start of graduate school next week. and now that the weekend is finally here, i look forward to some quiet time at home, maybe a little bit of baking, a rangers game viewing {yay the nhl is back!} and one last hooray with the sisters before they head back to their respective schools. until then, here are a few things i’ve been loving as of late…

{a belated christmas gift i’ve been living in}

{our current go-to green: stay tuned for a yummy brussels sprout salad recipe}

{a vegas souvenir: the lv mahina bag that i had been lusting after for a year}

{wish: a clean, powdery scent i’ve been wearing in anticipation of the spring}

with the new year in full swing, i’ve finally settled into my routine. gone are the hectic events of the holidays & daily activities are back in place. the past few months brought a lot of changes, & with that came some new favorites- from gummy candies i had never tried to a favorite piece of arm candy from my bf.  here a few of my current favorite things- a little mix of new & old.

{blushing peonies: a constant favorite}

{vita fede titan bracelet: a favorite christmas present & a current staple}

{2 blind mice: an adorable new cheese board that’s been put to good use as of late}

{while i’m not a regular whiskey drinker, i’ve grown fond of a splash of the boyfriend’s bourbon of choice now & then}
