hello.

etsy purchases have been my new thing recently… if you can get past the overwhelming amount of {awesome} pages of merchandise, you can find some great things at decent prices. with my apartment makeover in full swing, i’ve picked out a few home accents that i’m super excited to receive… in addition to perusing side tables and wall shelves i couldn’t help but look at all the bulldog-related merch- from t shirts, to wall hangings to these super cute note cards. with lots of friends still on the left coast, i couldn’t help but pick these cards to say “hello!” from me & henry…

d.i.y {twinkle toes}

yesterday was a chilly fall day here in santa barbara. and while most locals dread days like those, i reveled in the chance to cozy up in my favorite sweater/sweatpant combo, light a fire, and embark on some d.i.y projects.  the first one- adding some sparkle to a boring old pair of black ballet flats.  i chose this pair in part due to its low price point {only $10 at h&m} and in part due to the fact that henry dog took it upon himself to nibble a bit at this pair’s toes. thus, not only did this project liven up my ordinary flats, but it also served as cover up for some unsightly chew marks…

{apply glue to toe of shoes, or wherever you desire a little sparkle, then sprinkle glitter of choice over the glue}

{the finished project worthy of dorothy… i chose black to keep this pair an easy every day staple}

golden years

several days ago, my boyfriend surprised me with three lovely little plants from farmers market.  despite several minutes of scrounging around our apartment, i was unable to find any way to display the pretty petals… as they were potted plants rather than a typical bouquet. using a few candle votives that i had on hand, i was able to temporarily give the plants a home… albeit a fairly unattractive one.

thus, last night i took to prettifying the little votive, using a bottle of krylon metallic spray paint.  after a few coats, and the use of some extra ribbon, i quickly glammed up my flower display…

pinterest-ing

i’ll admit it. despite how kookie it sounds, i sort of believe in “the secret.” for those of you who are laughing, you have to try it! for those of you asking, what’s that? hear me out: it’s the idea that if you visualize it, it will happen.

i did this several months back {making the prettiest little vision board of all the things i wanted at the time} and i promise… it kind of works!  but truthfully, i’m not trying to make you a believer, but rather want to introduce you to an awesome new web site that allows you to make and share virtual vision boards: pinterest. here, you can create your own online pin board where you can organize, well, anything! believer or not, pinterest is an awesome way to organize all the pretty things you lust after!

here are a few of my works in progress:
